As the Senior Financial Analyst within Digital, Analytics & Technology (DAT) Controllership, you’ll provide critical accounting and controllership oversight for approximately \$400M in annual software development labor spend, including the development of enhanced data analytics to efficiently analyze labor trends and ensure propriety. You will support the India hub by helping build out business and compliance processes that drive financial and operational excellence. You’ll partner cross functionally to proactively assess accounting impacts of new business initiatives and shifting priorities, including ongoing impairment analyses of capitalized software development spend. This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days at our corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota, and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.
Responsibilities
Provide controllership oversight for DAT projects, including review of new project requests to ensure alignment with accounting policy, capitalization criteria, and appropriate useful life determinations.
Review and prepare internal and third-party labor activity including booking approved software development labor into Oracle Project Accounting.
Own month-end close activities for DAT portfolio labor, including accruals, variance analysis, and balance sheet support.
Maintain responsibility for the India Hub legal entity, including overall oversight and analysis, trial balance consolidation, intercompany activity, and other required journal entries.
Prepare and present reports on capital and expense trends and portfolio performance for DAT leadership and participate in related leadership meetings.
Review the DAT P&L report during month-end close and provide financial commentary during functional review meetings.
Lead SOX Process 2 (Internal Use Software), including execution of key and non-key controls, documentation, audit support, and issue resolution.
Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Portfolio Analysts, Audit, Tax, and Technology teams to resolve issues, support decision-making, and strengthen financial governance.
Requirements
2+ years of relevant accounting or finance experience
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Nice-to-haves
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business
Experience applying U.S. GAAP to large company situations
Experience supporting month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations
Experience with Oracle GL, Project Accounting, or similar ERP systems
Exposure to SOX controls, audits, and compliance documentation
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across functions
