Senior Software Engineer (Frontend / Vue.js) Reports to: Development Manager Salary: Up to $140,000 based on experience OnTheClock is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in Vue.js and modern frontend development to join our growing engineering team. You'll specialize in our web frontend (Vue.js 3/Nuxt 3/TypeScript) while working full-stack across our .NET backend APIs, SQL Server database, and AWS infrastructure. OnTheClock is a successful Michigan-based SaaS company serving over 160,000 monthly active users with time tracking, scheduling, and payroll solutions. OnTheClock is investing in engineering excellence, and we're building out a strong internal engineering team. As we scale toward our ambitious long-term goal of reaching 1 million users, we need exceptional software engineers who want to be a part of establishing the technical foundation, culture, and practices for our team. Our Current Tech Stack (What You Will Be Working With) <ul> <li>Backend: C#, .NET, Web API, Entity Framework, MediatR (CQRS)</li> <li>Frontend: <a href="http://vue.js" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Vue.js</a> 3, Nuxt 3, TypeScript, Pinia, Vite, Bootstrap Vue</li> <li>Mobile: .NET MAUI (Android and iOS)</li> <li>Database: SQL Server</li> <li>Infrastructure: AWS (EC2, S3, Cognito), Windows Servers, IIS, GitHub Actions</li> <li>Monitoring: New Relic, Sentry</li> </ul> Responsibilities (What You'll Be Doing) <ul> <li>Design, build, ship, and maintain features across our web application (Vue.js 3/Nuxt 3/TypeScript), with contributions to our backend APIs (.NET/C#/Web API), that serve 160,000+ monthly active users</li> <li>Build responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces using Vue.js 3, Nuxt 3, and TypeScript</li> <li>Provide technical leadership and expertise across projects, offering architecture guidance, system design recommendations, and best practices</li> <li>Own significant technical areas end-to-end, from database schema design to frontend UI, taking initiative to identify improvements and drive them to completion</li> <li>Conduct thorough code reviews and architecture reviews, raising the bar for code quality and helping the team make better technical decisions</li> <li>Collaborate closely with Product and the Development Manager to shape the technical roadmap and prioritize engineering initiatives</li> <li>Debug and resolve production issues using monitoring tools like New Relic and Sentry, participating in an on-call rotation to ensure system reliability</li> <li>Work on AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, IAM), CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), and DevOps processes to improve deployment reliability and developer productivity</li> <li>Mentor other engineers as the team grows, sharing knowledge through code reviews, pair programming, documentation, and fostering a culture of continuous learning</li> </ul> Required Qualifications - Technical <ul> <li>6+ years of relevant professional software engineering experience, building production web applications</li> <li>Strong expertise in modern frontend development (advanced) <ul> <li>Vue.js 3, Nuxt 3, TypeScript</li> <li>Component architecture, state management (Pinia/Vuex), reactive patterns</li> <li>HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, accessibility fundamentals</li> <li>Build tooling (Vite, Webpack), performance optimization</li> <li>REST API consumption and frontend/backend integration</li> </ul> </li> <li>Strong backend capabilities (proficient) <ul> <li>Willing and able to work in .NET/C# backend code, and write API endpoints</li> </ul> </li> <li>Not just a frontend specialist, you can trace a bug from the UI through the API to the database</li> <li>Strong SQL Server or relational database experience (proficient)</li> <li>Experience with production support, monitoring tools (New Relic, Sentry, or similar), and comfort with on-call rotation (proficient)</li> </ul> Required Qualifications - Non-Technical <ul> <li>Proactive and takes initiative: You see problems and fix them.
